Visit the Wild West at Fort Jefferson Fun Park

Posted by smpolizzi on August 2, 2014 in Horseback Riding, Summer | 1512 Views

Formerly known as Six Gun City, this Wild Western style theme park has reopened this year as Fort Jefferson Fun Park. Covered wagons, galloping horses, old saloons and other rodeo themed fun are some of the highlights of this park. Furthermore, this is a rare theme park that offers free admission in exchange for pay as you go tickets. This allows the experience to be as cost conscious as possible. Celebrating its 58th season, this park will continue to amaze visitors for years to come.

What kinds of activities do they have?

Fort Jefferson is a very diverse theme park located in Jefferson, New Hampshire. They feature pretty much everything! For those with the need for speed, there are Tumbleweed Speedway Go-Karts that zoom around a snaking track. Rollercoaster enthusiasts can ride the Gold Rush Express Runaway Train and the Prospector’s Plunge Water Coaster. Cowpokes with the desire to get some relief from the heat can careen down the Tomahawk Run and Cheyenne Falls water slides. There are also vintage log boats that have been paddled about the compound for over fifty years! Another favorite for all ages is the stagecoach ride. But beware, you could fall victim to a staged robbery! There are bumper boats, pedal boats, horse rides, laser tag, mini golf and more! There is also an adjacent campground where visitors can take a load off and relax for a while

What is the price of admission?

Fort Jefferson Fun Park offers free admission (which is pretty great) and choose instead to offer all day passes and ticket books. All day passes are $18.95 for unlimited rides, water slides and laser tag. Coupon books are $5.00 a piece.

They offer cabin rentals right in the park!

Too tuckered out to make the long drive home? Well Jefferson Fun Park offers cabin rentals right inside the park! You can also choose to head on over to their private campground and rent a pop up camper for $69 a night. Every night they have special activities to entertain their guests. They also have theme nights such as Halloween in July, barbecues, Christmas in July, dances and more! If you are seeking accommodations elsewhere, these two links can help: Lodging and Accommodations and Campgrounds.

It can’t be a rodeo without horses!

Jefferson Fun Park is home to two very special breeds of horses. The first, the miniature horse, stand less than 30 inches tall. These lovable little darlings love to receive hugs and kisses. Some even talk! Daily shows feature these tiny horses and their vocal talents. The second notable breed is the Norwegian Fjords. These stunning, hardy and gentle animals are known for having an excellent temperament. Mia and Tora were the first Norwegian Fjords to make it to the park. Considered to be one of the oldest breeds of horses, these beauties were once used by the Vikings. They now pull along stagecoaches in the park.
